On Wednesday, October 22nd 2014 Canada lost a brave soldier. Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was shot and killed in Ottawa, Ontario while guarding The National War Memorial. This broke the hearts of many Canadians but was especially shocking to the ones closest to him. Cpl. Nathan Cirillo left behind family and friends that cared deeply for him, one of which was our very own Cory Dunne. Cory and Nathan were both part of the Argyll and Sutherland highlanders of Canada. Cory had the honor of being Cpl. Nathan Cirillo’s section commander. Dunne was deeply hurt by the loss of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo and shared stories and memories with all of us, who did not have the honor of meeting him. Cory was however given the honor of carrying Cpl. Nathan Cirillo’s casket back to his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario.

Cpl. Nathan Cirillo will be laid to rest in a private service on Tuesday, October 28th.

The funeral service for Cirillo will begin at noon at Christ’s Church Cathedral on James St. N. in Hamilton, Ontario. A public visitation will be held at the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home in Hamilton on Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Our deepest condolences go out to the friends and family of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo. He is and will forever be in the hearts of all of us here at Baffin. Rest in Peace brave soldier.

People often ponder, why Baffin? The answer is simple really. Baffin designs and manufactures top of the line, quality fashionable products. Not a product that you’ll use for one season and toss away but a product you will be able to rely on time and time again. Here is the story of just one of many happy customers.

“This is a wonderful story about a pair of Baffin boots my husband gave me for Christmas seventeen (17) … yes, that is 17 years ago.  They have served me so wonderfully well all these cold, snowy winters … but, he had to look for something that could replace those beautiful boots.  I have had warm, dry feet all these years.  I have had constant compliments on the styling of these boots.  But, I had to admit that the time had finally come when they showed signs of cracks.  Without necessarily looking for the Baffin name, my husband once again chose a Baffin boot because of the style, height of boot and removable liner … and the -40 C warmth.  While I am probably too old to ever wear out these new boots, I am sure that I will enjoy and appreciate them just as much.  I have already received a number of compliments on them and questions as to where we got them … it wasn’t really Santa .. it was Marks.”

Thank you … and keep making quality boots.

Barb Taylor

Barb received her first pair of Baffin boots 17 years ago and just this last winter decided it was time to retire them. She ended up moving onto a new Baffin boot, the Chloe! When reading the email Barb had sent we were pleased to hear that her husband for a second time, picked a Baffin boot, not for the logo but for the quality and sleek design of the boot. This goes to show that Baffin has been working hard to ensure that the quality of our products is always improving.

We believe so strongly in our products that we test them in extreme weather conditions to ensure all quality measures have been met. Paul Hubner, Baffin’s president trekked to the North Pole wearing Baffin products. When returning Hubner made suggestions for adjustments that would improve the boots design. Video can be viewed here :

You might very well be asking yourself, why does Baffin go to such extreme measures? The answer is simple. The answer is you. We strive to provide the best quality products with the most innovative technology and sleek designs for our consumers. YOU are our motivation and the driving force behind the Baffin name.

Baffin will forever be improving, with new designs and new technology being thought of daily. One thing that will never change, is the driving force behind the Baffin name. We will always be manufacturing products with YOU in mind.

The excitement of seeing new places and trying new things. The Feeling of accomplishment as I push my limits to achieve a new goal.

I am a Photojournalist and Director of Special Projects at Overland International, an international adventure travel media company, that allows me to explore wonderfully remote and scenic areas of the world.

My proudest accomplishment is leading the first international team searching for survivors of the 2004 Tsunami, in the jungles along the southern Thai coastline. I am also a member of the Explorers Club and I love the opportunity to connect and share with explorers from around the globe.

I’d like to explore and map out the ancient trails and roads that criss-cross the major mountain ranges and passes of the world.

It’s hard to choose a single favorite, but if I had to narrow it down it would either be my Endurance boots or my Soft Shell Jacket and Pants.
