Happy New Year Everyone!

We hope you all had a great holiday and that Santa brought you some new Baffin gear to prepare you for this cold Winter season we dive deeper into!

With temperatures deep in the negatives this month, here is a boot review that comes to us from Tales of Mommyhood! Out in Ottawa, ON this month, temperatures sat around -18°C, which provided the perfect testing grounds for Baffin’s Chloe boots.

Enjoy and stay warm!

If it is possible to be in love with a pair of pac boots, then I am in love with the Baffin Shackleton boots.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAnd let me give you an example of just why these are incredible. A typical day for me in the mountains starts out with an hour of snow shoveling/snow blowing. Then walking the dogs and a quick ride before work. Now my typical morning temps can be anywhere from -15 to +15°F high up in the mountains. I have owned other pac boots like Sorels and Kamiks, neither would keep my toes from going numb after 20 minutes outside. I have spent hours and hours in the cold with these amazing Baffin Shackleton boots and not had cold feet.  Frankly they are amazing.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOne sport that gets my feet colder than anything else is fat biking. Since there is no impact on your feet they tend to go numb easy. I have been on tons of rides where my feet normally would have gone numb. But not with these boots. The sole has an aggressive tread which sticks to my platform pedals like glue.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Shackleton has a rubber lower with a leather upper.  The laces run through sturdy d-rings and are adjusted with a cord lock. The cord lock is great, I have a pair of mountaineering boots that the laces always loosen up on. There is nothing worse than to take your gloves off to fiddle with snow covered laces. This is never a problem with the Baffin cord lock system.

One of our favourite things here at Baffin is receiving stories and photos of everyday adventurers truly living the brand!

Here’s one from Val Cuarto:

“I just wanted to share this photo. I purchased my Apex winter boots for ice fishing two years ago. These boots are by far the best boots I have used for ice fishing. I professionally fish in the North American Ice Fishing Circuit, NAIFC. Of all the ice fishing equipment I have, these are the most valuable to me! Thank You Baffin!”

“Oh yeah my son likes them too! Couldn’t walk with them but I’m sure when he’s big enough he’ll get a pair for ice fishing.”

It sure looks like he is following in his father’s footsteps and showing that is never too soon to have a love of the outdoors!
